Giving Young Minds an Early Start in Technology

Technology is becoming an increasingly important part of how the world learns, works, and creates. We believe that young people should have the opportunity to explore technology early, not just as consumers, but as creators.

As part of our commitment to creating opportunities for young people to engage with technology, Touch Stack Technologies collaborated with BURO. to host a hands-on technology mentorship programme for children between the ages of 8 and 16.

The sessions introduced participants to both **web development and robotics**, giving them an opportunity to explore different areas of technology in an environment designed to make learning practical, accessible, and enjoyable.

Learning by Doing

Rather than focusing only on theory, the sessions were structured around hands-on learning and interaction.

Participants were introduced to concepts in web development and robotics, giving them an opportunity to see how technology works and, importantly, to experiment with it themselves.

For many young learners, an early experience with technology can help transform the way they see it. Instead of technology being something that simply happens around them, they begin to understand that they can build, create, experiment, and solve problems with it.

Mentorship

The first session was led by Afua Anaglate and David Benjamin Adjimah, who guided the participants through the learning activities and practical exercises.

The second session was led by Afua Anaglate, continuing the mentorship and giving the participants further opportunity to engage with the concepts introduced during the programme.

The mentors focused on making the sessions approachable for different age groups while encouraging participants to ask questions, experiment, and engage actively with the activities.

Creating Early Exposure to Technology

The programme was not about turning children into professional developers or engineers overnight. It was about exposure.

By introducing children to web development and robotics at an early age, the sessions gave them an opportunity to discover areas of technology they may not have encountered before and potentially develop an interest in exploring them further.

For some participants, it may be the beginning of a journey into technology. For others, it may simply be the experience that helps them realise that building with technology is something they can do too.

Our Collaboration with BURO.

The programme was made possible through a collaboration between Touch Stack Technologies and BURO, bringing together resources, space, and people to create an environment where young learners could explore technology.

We believe that creating meaningful impact does not always require large-scale programmes. Sometimes, it starts with giving a young person access to a computer, a robot, a new idea, and someone willing to show them what is possible.

The Impact

The sessions created an opportunity for young learners between the ages of 8 and 16 to gain practical exposure to web development and robotics, interact with technology in a hands-on setting, and learn from mentors working in the technology space.

More importantly, the programme contributed to creating an environment where children could see technology as something they can understand, explore, and create with.
